  • Drummer and composer Rintaro Mikami returns with Cosmolamps, a deeply personal song cycle exploring the relationship between memory, time, and the small moments that quietly accumulate into a life. Anchored by three versions of the title theme "Time," presented as past, present, and future, the album traces Mikami's ten years living in New York and the inner landscapes he's navigated along the way. Recorded with pianist Jon Cowherd, bassist Simón Willson, trumpeter Robert Vega, and tenor saxophonist Tal Kalman, with vocalist Lily Resnikoff returning from Mikami's debut First Fish, the record moves from meditative ballads to open, exploratory group interplay. Inspired in part by a night spent beneath the stars on Tanegashima Island, Cosmolamps draws a line between the vastness of the cosmos and the fleeting, irreplaceable moments of everyday life, inviting listeners to find something universal in the personal.

First Fish

  • The places we live leave a deep imprint. In the case of drummer and composer Rintaro Mikami, it was life on the small island of Kuchinoerabu in the south of Japan that inspired his debut release as a leader, First Fish. For two years during childhood, Mikami gained life lessons on Kuchinoerabu that he likely wouldn’t have in his native Tokyo.

    First Fish refers to Mikami’s earliest experience living on the island, a memory that would guide him as he matured and developed his own artistic sensibility after returning to Tokyo. Later he pursued music studies for seven years in the great music capital of New York, and grew to become the fine drummer and creative, well- rounded musician that we hear now. All nine tracks on First Fish weave together the story of Mikami’s journey, from the island to this day.

  • Released in September 1st 2020. DeeperDreamer is an international band formed in NYC, and self titled debut album was recorded at Figure 8 Recording Studio in Brooklyn on January 2020. All tracks except an arrangement of C Jam Blues are composed by original band members and deeply explored and expressed with each one of musical voices from swing to modern free improvisation which brings dynamic sceneries to the listener.
